a. Wash Craft. Wash the craft as follows (Figure 5-1):

( 1 ) Remove outboard engine and fuel tanks, if installed.
( 2 ) Lean craft against a structure, resting it on the cone ends of the main buoyancy
tubes.
( 3 ) Wet the craft thoroughly with the hose.
( 4 ) Direct water into the lower buoyancy tube skirt openings aft of the transom.
Also direct water under the flooring, particularly near the thrustboard to
dislodge sand and dirt in the vicinity of the keel.
( 5 ) Using the bucket, brush, and detergent, scrub all accessible surfaces of the
craft. Do not overlook corner areas where sand and grit may accumulate.
( 6 ) Use the hose to direct water over the craft to remove all detergent.
( 7 ) Again direct water under the flooring and into the lower buoyancy tube skirt
opening.
